Speech Title: Local Content Development in the Cottage Industry
Abstract: Local content is an expression and communication of a community’s locally generated, owned, and adapted knowledge and experience relevant to the community’s situation. In most of the world, local content is still inaccessible even to the local population, not at the broader level. One type of local content is knowledge of the local people in the cottage industry in Malaysia. There must be action taken to determine the types of local content in the cottage industry among the community that we should keep for future reference. To explore the best mechanism to manage and share the local content in the cottage industry by the local community, and to develop a comprehensive local content mechanism for the cottage industry to enhance the local content availability towards sustainable development of society, especially on the digital platform. The young generation prefers to use online databases, websites, or any digital platforms to transfer, search and disseminate knowledge. Thus, there must be a comprehensive initiative to preserve the local content of local people to sustain the local content in Malaysia because it plays an important role in economic growth. Even though this industry takes part in the village area, it contributes to Malaysia’s economic development
